Striking the balance in deltas under pressure

Prior to the lecture in the Aula, a symposium focussed on deltas will take place in room Gaia 1 in the Gaia Building of Wageningen University. The programme of the symposium is as follows:

12.30-12.55 Dr. Maarten van der Vegt (Utrecht University): “Tides and saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta”
12.55-13.40 Break with sandwiches
13.40-14.05 Prof. Zheng Bing Wang (Deltares and TU Delft) : “The Yangtze Delta, a delta in transition”
14.05-14.30 Prof. Torbjorn Tornqvist (Tulane University): “Large deltas and relative sea-level rise: An awkward relationship”
14.30-14.55 Dr. Liviu Giosan (Woodshole Oceanographic Institution): “From waves to tides: Danube and Irrawaddy deltas”
