The Dutch Coastal Research Community is very sorry to inform you that Prof. Will de Ruijter is deceased on January 12th 2023 at the age of 71 years. Will founded the world-known Utrecht University Institute of Marine and Atmospheric Research in 1992 and was scientific director for many years. He was a passionate and inspiring researcher and an excellent teacher. Many of us have been deeply influenced by his exceptional physical intuition, broad vision and warm personality. Will leaves a great legacy in physical oceanography and climate physics through his scientific work, through his undergraduate and graduate students, and through his leadership in national and international scientific organisations. He was knighted in the order of the Dutch Lion for his excellent academic performance. The Netherlands Centre for Coastal Research is one of the national organisations that owes to him for his great support. He will be sadly and greatly missed.

Our new NCK-RWS video is out! We proudly present: 'Data tot op de bodem van de Zeeuwse delta'! The video shows how data and models are used to keep our estuaries safe from flooding, accesible by ships and how we try to reduce pressure on nature. This video is an idea of Rena Hoogland, made by Vizualism and financed by NCK and RWS.
