Join us on November 17th for a dedicated theme day focused on the latest insights into combining sandy dunes with hard structures to strengthen coastal flood defences. Hybrid solutions offer the robust erosion resistance of traditional hard infrastructure, while integrating the ecological, recreational, and adaptive advantages of natural dune systems.

By combining hard and soft elements, these defences create a dynamic interplay that directly influences safety and stability. However, a clear knowledge gap remains in understanding how these components interact.

This theme day will bring together researchers and stakeholders from diverse disciplines and institutions to exchange knowledge, share methodologies, and identify future research priorities.
