On Saturday 12th of September the Maeslant storm surge barrier closes for its yearly test closure. Do you want to learn more about this unique coastal defense system? Come and join us to watch the closure and follow a tour.

The Maeslant storm surge barrier is close to Rotterdam, and for this special day there are busses between Hoek van Holland and the barrier. The barrier closes at 15.30, so we meet at 15.00 at the barrier. After the closure, there is time for a tour (preliminary time 16.30-17.30) where we can walk on the terrain and learn more about its history and how it defends our coast. Please join us for this unique opportunity to see one of the great events on the Dutch coastal calendar. After the tour we will go for a drink near Hoek van Holland!
